New-build gardens cleared, prepared and turfed in County Durham
From the edges of Durham city to the coast at Seaham and the higher ground around Consett, we create lawn-first gardens for new homes.

New homes across the county
County Durham is a big area with new housing spread across it: around Durham city and Chester-le-Street, along the coast near Seaham and Peterlee, in Consett to the west, and further south towards Newton Aycliffe.
That spread means a real mix of gardens, from compact plots on town estates to larger gardens on village edges.
Ground and conditions
Higher ground
Gardens up around Consett sit noticeably higher than those near the coast, so they can be cooler, wetter and later to warm up in spring. That can affect when the ground is right for laying.
Former industrial land
Some new estates in the county are built where there was once industry. Stones or hardcore can turn up as the ground is loosened; surface debris is cleared, and buried rubble is priced separately.
On the coast
Seaham and the nearby coast can be breezy, which dries out fresh turf. Watering regularly while it roots makes all the difference.

FAQs
Questions about your new garden
Do you cover all of County Durham?
We cover a large part of the county. If you're not sure whether that includes you, put your postcode on the form and ask.
We're on higher ground near Consett. Does timing matter?
It can. Cold or waterlogged ground isn't good for laying, so your date may need to suit the weather. You'll be offered the next suitable day if it changes.
